Commemorative buckle for the Appaloosas horse. The Appaloosa was selectively bred for speed, endurance and agility by the Nez Perce Native American Indian tribe in the northwestern United States. The leaping "Spirit Horse",
a blanket patterned Appaloosa with eagle feathers braided into his mane and tail, was created in the early 1950s by Dick Spencer III, of the Western Horseman magazine, for the Appaloosa Horse Club headquartered in Moscow, Idaho. Pewter buckle, brand new, mint condition. 3" x 2 1/4" and for a 1 1/2" belt.
